Digital communication, the internet in particular, has changed our world.
Have human beings changed in a significant way?
No.
Do I think we’re getting to see human beings in a way that reveals who they really are?
Yes.
We see more water as the river gets deeper and flows faster. It rendered the river both livelier and more perilous, yet water is still water.
The information river is so much deeper now as everyone can jump in, and that information flows much faster. As a result, it’s not just the information that flows faster, it’s the money.
As a result, we’ve seen the emergence of a new kind of “genius” to whom much of this money flows.
The billionaire.
Such a concept seemed unimaginable in the seventies. While the rise of the billionaire isn’t entirely linked to the digital economy, the role of digital technology in those hallmarks of capitalism…
