Actually Frank, if you put a USA poverty graph along side your Global poverty graph you might get a surprise. FYI, poverty rate in US is currently above 10%, ie. above the global average. Since 1990 it hasn't budged much (except GFC, up of course) and is currently trending up. I expect the massive downward trend has more to do with China.
