A million in prizes, a true story.

Anyone who has walked a dog knows you run into the same people all the time. You share a greeting, chat, but you don’t know their name.

You may know their dog’s name (hello Sadie if your reading) but you don’t know their name and they don’t know yours. An acquaintance.

A friend had such an acquaintance. I’ll call him AcquaMan. One day my friend ran into AcquaMan. After a chat, they’d head on there way.

This day, Acquaman hadn’t moved. He propped himself against a fence.

AcquaMan was elderly, a little shabby. “Are you OK? Can’t go any further?”

“There’s nowhere further to go”, motioning towards to house behind the fence, “This is my home. This is where I live. Would you like to come in?”

His home looked rundown. Unusual in a classy suburb like South Yarra.

Sensing a breach of dog walking etiquette, AcquaMan quickly added, “I have something to show you.”

My friend was curious and agreed.

The house, like Acquaman, was shabby. Nothing looked out of the ordinary; until they reached the Lounge…
