š¤Æ Epic. Hatfield and the North. Iād heard of them but not there music, so this was the first listen. I like you explanation of the vocal section, though I found it a little silly (not as silly as BR, though) and the vocals themselves were underwhelming. I thought the music was good, but I think it would take as few listens to fully get the gist of it all. 80
Soft Machine. Much more familiar with these guys. The best song on one of their best albums. Robert Wyatt makes a difference with his lyrics and vocals and I guess I appreciated the music more because of the familiarity. 91
Egg. Clocking in at a meagre 8 minutes, this was more accessible and almost makes it as a song rather than a composition. 85
Very hard to get a clear impression of a single listen with such long tracks and the Canterbury Sound dominates over the actual character of the tracks, which once again, would take quite a few listens to overcome. Still, I expect Iāll be returning to both Egg and Hatfield and the North for a more detailed listen.
