When we moved to Tasmania, we knew this would allow something that hadn’t been possible before: pets.

Twelve years ago my wife and son turned up to pick me up from work. This was unusual. I typically just got the bus home.

This day, however, there was someone else on board. In a cardboard box on the front seat was a tiny corgi puppy. It was up to our son to name him.

He chose Rex.

The first picture. A little Rex, already with some full size ears. The box that he arrived in is in the foreground. By the author.

It didn’t take long for Rex to grow into a full sized corgi, and soon, he was joining us on every adventure.

We home schooled our son for five years, which further cemented Rex’s place as our constant companion.

I hope these pictures give a sense of some of what we got up to.
