Growing up in suburban Melbourne, manicuring the front lawn was a blood sport and my Dad was a willing participant. It all felt very “English”. It was never sustainable. Also, natives were deeply unfashionable. But as you say, the natives will survive and survival is essential to biodiversity.

39% on the garden? Kinda shocking. Time for a cultural change as these climate issues just seem to get worse.

And to those blood sport gardeners, stop trying to grow avocados in Tasmania.
