I agree too. If something is a deal breaker it’s ok to say so, and it’s reasonable to expect your partner to be truthful on the issue. Beyond that, trust and love takes time to grow and to use a poor gardening metaphor, you never buy a bag of fertiliser and dump in all on the garden at once.

My experience has been “trust me, I have nothing to hide” is the hallmark of an untrustworthy person with much to hide.
