I don't see the sign as self-flagellating, I see it as a cop out, but yeh, still bullshit. "I'll never understand so that's probably why I'm never going to achieve anything. Wevs."

The James Baldwin quote explains it clearly enough, once we all get in touch with our own humanity, all these problems melt away, because we will understand our fellow humans.

I think ideas of allyship and solidarity are a long way in the future, they're not real. At best, they're the self-agrandising side of the shame coin, at worst, it's white people demanding to lead the conversation, ...again. However, the road to solidarity is paved with common cause.

Voting rights. Labour rights. Freedom from police brutality. How are these difficult to understand? As each of these rights are restored, some of our collective humanity is restored, then projects such a reparations will seem entirely more obvious.
