I think it's common for artists to disingenuously position themselves as free thinking, transgressive, edgy and so forth. Yet whether this is supported or rejected often has more to do with existing power structures rather than any objective analysis.

So stick to your guns, it can feel like no one is listening but often they're just choosing not to hear.
