If only this worked in every situation. I ran a restaurant for seven years. I didn't own it, my wife did. It was staggering how many men found that hard to believe and treated her like she was invisible.

From customers getting chucked out, pushing past her and demanding to speak to the owner - "I am the owner, dickhead" to bank managers, petty officials and other sundry professionals who felt it was me they should be addressing; it was pathetic.

To say casual sexism is alive and well in Australia would be an understatement. Hopefully Grace'll sort 'em out when she's Prime Minister.
