In Australia, that's pronounced bascetti.

Hot tip if you ever make it the Tasmania, Launceston is pronounced Lon-ceston, not Lawn-ceston. You'll sound like a real local!

My all-time favourite was when I was working as a lighting designer. A word we used all the time was luminaire. It's a fancy way of saying light fitting. I attended a product launch were they'd employed some third rung celebrity to do the presentation. By the end of the presentation he was very confused, unsure why everyone was rolling on the floor laughing every time he said the word luminary.

Having said that, I like making up words myself. My current favourite is inspectigate. It's a cross between inspect and investigate and let me tell you, Medium really didn't want me to type that word in.
