Indeed. Whatever our hopes and dreams, they intersect with the hopes and dreams of others. And when those others realise those hopes when we haven’t? A little envy or sadness is inevitable, perhaps even natural.

In isolation, that hope can seem so big. I had a work situation a few weeks back where a competitor had succeeded where I hadn’t. Envy? Perhaps. But would I want to be them? No, I’ve got my own path to travel.

The way you approach everything with honesty, openness and humour is full of hope, and you ability to put it into words? Well, I’m a little envious. You’ve given me more hope!

I’m off to the nursing home today to do some art with my mother in law. That at 86, she’s pulling out the paint brushes again, to splash some paint onto a blank canvas is an act of hope. Ok, so someone painted a better picture today? There a still many blank canvasses ahead.

So glad you ended up on a blank canvas I had this time last year.
