Just about everything Bowie did in the seventies, the live albums and Pinups not withstanding, had something substantial to offer. Diamond Dogs is up there, I was listening to it earlier this week. It’s particularly interesting for Bowie playing a lot of the lead guitar himself. With the Sweet Thing trilogy and Big Brother it’s hard to think of anything even vaguely similar in rock.
