Not for twenty years. I was visiting DC and was determined to buy a bottle of George Dickel after an exhausting day. We settled in for the night and thought, let's see what this American TV is all about!

Made Eraserhead seem like a kids movie. There was an interview with a convicted mass murderer that was one of the most disturbing things I had ever seen. When we couldn't take any more, we changed the channel only to be confronted by a crazy Australian "bush bashing" through the mangroves. If Americans thought Steve Irwin was the average Australia, it kinda explained something. Add in Crocodile Dundee and that surely puts Australia at the top of the "men being like boys" tree.

Combined with the fact that the building next door to our hotel was a 24/7 construction site, the whole thing was a nightmare.

FYI, no crocodiles in Tasmania, but it is Autumn (Fall?), getting colder and sneezier.

Vonnegut? I believe sanity is a mental illness in some parts of the world.
