Over a decade ago there was a very big controversy around Australian photographer Bill Henson, regarding consent of minors in his photos, among other things. It was bizarre seeing the arts community react, many saying (or being coerced into saying) things they knew were patently false. Despite endless invocations of artist freedom, it was fairly that that was not what they were trying to protect.
