Most writers have a pile of drafts lying around. I’m no exception in that respect. Some extend to thousands of words, waiting for that final moment of clarity to bring them to a conclusion. Others, just a handful of words looking for a home.

Once such draft, stuffed in my Inner Turntable folder consists of a single line.

I Fought the Law, Bobby Fuller Four.

I’ve always liked the song and wanted to write about it, yet I’ve never been able to find a home for it , within the Inner Turntable series or elsewhere.

Then I came across Buddy Gott’s latest Rate-a-Record, Rate These Rebellious Records.

That gives me an idea! But first, a picture of one of my resident rebels.

Tilli Manilli. By the author. I fought the cat and the cat won.
