Saying capitalism simply means applying capital to increase production is like saying communism simply means everyone sharing. If the US doesn't represent the logical conculsion of capitalism, then the word has no meaning at all.

As for the data, only one figure is needed. If the US as a country is worth X and X can be measured in dollars, if you print 60% more US dollars overnight you haven't changed the value of X, you've devalued what a dollar is worth by over 30%. This financialism IS the logical conclusion of "market" capitalism and it's the most efficient penny-come-quick ever devised.
