Spoiler Alert: This article touches on scenes from the finale of The Magnificent Mrs Maisel.

The truism that first impressions stick underestimates the complexity of people and the culture in which we exist. It is a truism often employed by the successful to undermine any competition.

By the final episode of The Magnificent Mrs Maisel, “Four Minutes”, Midge sits on the cusp of fame. For many who have sat there, that fame can remain maddeningly out of reach.

Like a tiny soul standing on the edge of a deep canyon, the other side is clearly in view, yet without a bridge, that other side, where future success lies remains unreachable.

What can be even more frustrating is when there is a bridge in sight with a gatekeeper determined to see that that soul does not cross.

Four Minutes

A deceptive simple title that on the surface is meaningless, yet for those with the context of five seasons of viewing, the meaning is obvious.

Midge is going to get four minutes to propel herself from obscurity to stardom.

The Bridge
