It bought to mind Damon Alban's recent stupid and patently false comments about Taylor Swift. Because it was patently false the "what he said" seems far less interesting (to me) than the "why he said it". Ego, jealousy, fear of his own irrelevance, misogyny, something about 1776? Who knows.

A clue perhaps? Asking why lacks the visceral thrill of calling someone a dickhead. Damon, you dickhead. Well that feels better, or not.
