AI is complete rubbish. Neither Buddy or I are THIS old. By the author with AI.

To celebrate Paul McCartney’s birthday Buddy Gott came up with the interesting idea of choosing his favourite Paul McCartney song from each of the Beatles albums.

I related to his choices, mostly, and thought this is something (are George Harrison references allowed?) that I can get on board with.

All such challenges need a new invention and today, I present the Buddy-o-Meter. It’s a simple device. If my selection matches Buddy, the Buddy-o-Meter needle swings to a MATCH, if not, it moves to MISS.

Shall we begin?

“I Saw Here Standing There” from Please Please Me (1963)

Buddy-o-Meter: MATCH

The Beatles debut album is bookended by two brilliant rockers. At the tail end, their cover of Twist and Shout signalled that a British Invasion might not be far away. At the front end, one of their own compositions not only counts in the song, but the beginning of an illustrious career.
