The most compelling new art I've seen over the last year was made with AI. None of it simply a prompt generating a single image. The way the likes of Vnderworld and Splarg weave their images into a compelling narrative takes a lot of effort. Vnderworld's piece on alcoholism is devastating.
That's visual art. As far as writing and music goes, I've read nor listened to anything that was equally compelling.
This biggest problem with AI is not a moral or artistic one, but an issue of volume. It's ability to create mountains of dross quickly entirely justifies platforms such a Medium refusing to support it.
The art either makes it or it doesn't. How it was made is irrelevant. The failure of most AI art is due to the artist, not the tool.
