There is another way of reframing this. Societies, to some degree, require a level of conformity to survive. The role of the creative is to simply not listen and go "in search of" what ever that might be to face the next survival challenge. It's not a purely human state of being.

Bees, an incredibly organised and structured society, require a great deal of conformity. However, about 5% of bees do not conform and wander off, in search of greener pastures, so to speak. Once they find it, they report back.

Luckily for bees, none of them are called Cassandra.
