This is relatable and a bind many of us face. No, I haven't quit my day job, either.

My day job is helping small businesses and this reminds me of one client, a talented carpenter (he makes beautiful ukuleles) bemoaning how he could only get handyman work. My suggestion was to simply change his ads so it said "Carpenter" first and "Handyman" second. Guess what happened?

My apologies for this facile thought experiment, but what if the opening word in your bio was "novelist" instead of "writer"?
