Until there's nowhere left to go. I've seen it happen time and time again with the arts. The artists move to somewhere they can afford, they get it buzzing and before long the tourists arrive having a groovy artsy lifestyle, the rents are through the roof and then the artists are gone.
I wonder when the artists are finally driven to the desert, will the desert become groovy?
Sadly, too many small businesses feel the need to emulate the "branding" approach, lest they be driven to the desert. Not understanding corporations have a brand because they don't have a personality, they swamp us with more b-grade generica.
