Very interesting. My wife and I, both born in the mid-sixties at the Boomer-X crossroads have often felt neither here nor there.
Jonesin' is a word we used to use fairly often, referring to drug seeking behaviour, something we'd see in restaurant with erratic customers and always on Victoria St, Richmond where the heroin trade was out of control.
As you say, the generalisation don't really do it justice. Just as Richmond and St Kilda might have been drug central for some, Little Saigon, the Valhalla, the Astor, the pubs and clubs, where we would have seen both Ollie Olsen and the Ears, were incredible hives of activity and culture.
I doesn't really make sense to call Nick Cave a Baby Boomer!
Your generational table captures it perfectly. The Elvis line is hysterical, though happy to play the X-Card for some Costello.
Thurston Moore and Sonic Youth at the Old Greek on Bridge Road, one of the best live shows I ever saw.
