WTF is Going On?

It reminds me of that one time I accidentally answered a phone call from someone who was neither my wife nor one of the kids. It was some website builder boiler room in outer Mongolia and once the “picked up the phone once” box had been ticked in their database the phone calls had a tenfold increase in regularity.
