Yes, I think it's a rare moment when they work. The Supremes album, where a band is conspicuously a singles act with lots of hits, it works, but that's pretty rare. I've got one of those Kinks 20 Greatest. It's patchy, inconsistent and rarely gets a play ahead of the studio albums.
